CTLE Professional Development Workshop for Educators

The Western New York Children’s Book Expo and sponsor Medaille College will again this year bring an exciting event dedicated to educators to the  WNYCBE!  The Niagara Frontier Reading Council is partnering with WNYCBE and Medaille College to offer a reduced fee to its members.

Educators must pre-register for the 4-hour CTLE workshop that will run from 8 a.m. to noon as part of the WNY Children’s Book Expo at the Buffalo-Niagara Convention Center on Saturday November 9, 2019. See agenda below.

Fifteen award-winning and nationally recognized children’s authors and illustrators will participate on the Educator Event panel, including Patricia Polacco, Peter Brown, Jerry Craft, Gordon Korman, Greg Pizzoli, Susan Verde, Shelley Rotner, and 2018 Newbery Honor Award recipient, Veera Hiranandani. In the final hour, event participants will have the opportunity to choose from a variety of breakout sessions and visit WNYCBE authors and illustrators on the main floor. Extensive online resources, a swag bag filled with a bounty of educational materials, and a FREE children’s book by one of the Expo authors or illustrators will be distributed to all Expo Educator Event attendees…

Expo Educator Event attendees will receive a coupon to choose a book by any Expo author or illustrator FREE, generously provided by event sponsor Medaille College.

Meet Professional Development Expert Judy Bradbury

Judy Bradbury is coordinating the Expo Educator Event, a four-hour, NYS-approved CTLE opportunity taking place from 8 a.m. to noon at the Expo. Judy is an author and literacy specialist who provides professional development workshops across the country. She has over twenty-five years of teaching experience ranging from Pre-K through college.

Her books include Empowering Families: Practical Ways to Involve Parents in Boosting Literacy, The Read-Aloud Scaffold: Best Books to Enhance Content Area Curriculum, the Children’s Book Corner series, and the Christopher Counts picture book series. Judy has penned a monthly column on character education for LibrarySparks and contributed regularly to Children’s Writer and Writer’s Guide. She has received awards from the New York State Reading Association and the Niagara Frontier Reading Council, for whom she is CTLE/Professional Development Chair.
